Zoom retreats at Boarbank Hall: Living Laudato Si'
Following the popularity of their October and January Zoom Retreats, Living Laudato Si': Your Parish and Your Planet, Boarbank Hall is making the most of continued Lockdown to offer two more:
12th-15th March and 16th-19th April.

By the standard of present crises, Covid-19 is minor. But the major disasters that threaten - social, economic, ecological, spiritual - are so daunting that they paralyse us. How on earth do we start tackling them? Who on earth can take the lead? It's all so urgent - but when will something be done? How about you, here and now? No, we can't do this alone. But we are not alone. We are in the hands of God, members of his Church here on earth, concretely expressed in our local parishes. Why not start there? Or maybe you have already started there and need encouragement, support or ideas.
The Zoom Retreat will be led by Sr Margaret Atkins,...

Making a Silent Retreat at Home
During this time of social distancing and ‘lock down’ the Jesuits in Britain have been finding creative ways of offering individually directed retreats. The retreatants' commit to 30 to 60 minutes prayer and a meeting with their retreat guide each day. Prayer for Those in Authority
Loving God, in Christ Jesus, the servant of all,

you call us to the service of others.
Grant to those who govern the community
the skill to recognise its urgent needs
and the strength to pursue the common good.
Endow us all with patience and courage,
that we may care for the suffering,
feed the hungry, shelter the homeless,
       and sustain the needy.

       Through Christ our Lord.
       Amen.

AUDIO of Gerry O’Hanlon’s presentation on the ‘Synod on Synods’
Thursday evening 25th February 212 people tuned in to hear Gerry O’Hanlon’s excellent presentation on the ‘Synod on Synods’ due to take place in Rome in October 2022. It was a classic example of synodality in action with a strong  ‘People of God’ presence of highly articulate women and men whose contributions were augmented by priests and bishops. It was a most enjoyable, challenging and comforting evening.

The Pope Video - February 2021 - For women who are victims of violence
Fr David Stewart SJ, Director of The Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network writes: "With the arrival of February and the approach of Ash Wednesday and Lent.Pope Francis has once again asked us to pray with him about a matter of grave concern in our contemporary world.
Anxious about the pandemic, and rightly concerned about just sharing of the new life-saving vaccines with the world's poorest, we might forget this continuing epidemic, of violence against women, to which there has so far been no effective inoculation.

Making it a Retreat
The Spirituality Committee has prepared a leaflet with some ideas about using the time of self-isolation as a retreat.
  • Making it a Retreat (pdf)

      Lord Jesus, you came
that we might have life in all its fullness.

In this time of sickness and the fear of sickness,
give me the health of mind – that I might seek out
           wise guidance and act upon it;

the health of body – that will enable me
            to serve you and those around me;

the health of spirit – that my soul rests
             in the secure knowledge
that there is nothing
that can separate me from the Father’s love.

Give me the grace to share your peace –
that peace the world cannot give.

We ask this in Jesus' name.
                                                           Amen.
